To protect Bulma and Trunks, Majin Vegeta knocks out sleeping Goku and goes at Buu alone. His suicide blast erases him, yet Buu regenerates from steam and starts wiping cities in rage. Neither Dabura nor Babidi can stop Buu now. Only screams remain on the ground. Goku, back among the living on a clock, turns Super Saiyan 3 and shoves Buu back. Gold hair to the waist and lightning look overwhelming, but an afterlife body will not last. Goku leaves the fusion form to young Goten and Trunks and returns to the afterlife when time runs out. The volume closes as Piccolo drills the leftover children in the fusion steps. The setup for Gotenks is in place, yet the series runs to volume 42, and the Majin Buu saga has only just begun.
